Double Portion

Our discussion on Sunday, June 23rd will delve much deeper into the intriguing story of Elijah’s ascension we began last Sunday on Memorial Day. Contrary to popular belief, he (Elijah) did NOT enter the presence of God by a Chariot of fire, but by a whirlwind (2 Kings 2:1, 2 Kings 2:11). The Chariot of Fire, which separated the two men (2 Kings 1:11), raises interesting questions. Was it a deliberate distraction designed to divert Elisha’s attention and prevent him from witnessing his master’s ascent, thereby potentially losing the double portion? Was it a test sent from above?  We’ll also explore the prophetic message in the four (4) cities mentioned in the text (Gilgal, Bethel, Jordan, Jericho). Why did the Lord call Elijah to those cities before his ascension, and why was it important for him to visit all four of them?

This message is an introduction to a larger message we’ll have on Sunday, June 23. This video begins with our Memorial Day Tribute and presentation of the American Flag. – Pastor Ed

Contrary to popular belief, Elijah did NOT enter the presence of God by a Chariot of fire. Could it be that the Chariot that separated the two men was a distraction?
